Making the right choice
Let’s face it. During harvest season, there’s very little that’s as important as chopping high-quality forage, except for making sure it retains that quality while being ensiled. Which is why, frankly, you need a John Deere self-propelled forage harvester. Our 7050 Forage Harvesters are engineered and built to deliver unprecedented productivity, up-time, and quality. From the 380-hp* 7250, up to the mammoth 7950 with its 800 hp*, our lineup offers a wide range of power and capacity to match your needs. And to provide truly exceptional performance, we’ve paired that power with precision control. So whether you’re a dairy or beef operator focused on chopping quality feed for your herd, or a custom harvester looking for equipment that keeps your customers satisfied, you’ve come to the right place – John Deere, the home of the 7050 Series Self-Propelled Forage Harvesters.
ProDrive™
Put more power to the ground when and where you need it the most. ProDrive senses which axle has more traction and sends power to that axle. A differential lock with manual and automatic modes provides even more traction and control when you need it. ProDrive gives the 7050 Series a top speed of 25 mph (40 km/h) in transport and 12 mph (20 km/h) in the field.
Harvest Lab™
Get real-time moisture readings while you chop with John Deere’s exclusive 1-larvestLab. Near infrared (NIR) technology measures the moisture value of corn and alfalfa within +1- 2 points of accuracy while you harvest.
Feed path
The feed path on the 7050 Series is designed to increase efficiency without sacrificing quality. From the aggressive radial-arc feed rolls to the curved transition shoot and crop accelerator, each component moves the crop without allowing excess air to mix in. For even more efficiency in the heaviest crops, consider a 7750 or 7950 Large Capacity SPFH.
Infinitely variable length-of-cut
IVLOC, found exclusively on the John Deere 7050 Series SPFH, gives you an infinitely variable length-of-cut.
This unique feedroll and cutterhead transmission lets you choose the exact length of cut you want – right from the cab. It maintains a constant speed to ensure you get the length of cut you set - no slips, no fluctuations, and a crop that’s cut just the way you want it.
For even more precise control, the new AutoLoc (Automatic length-of-cut) system works with the HarvestLab moisture sensor to automatically adjust length of cut based on real-time, second-by-second moisture readings for best feed palatability and nutrition.
DuraDrum™ cutterhead
The segmented knives on the DuraDrum cutterhead give you a clean, efficient cut and an edge on efficiency. The slotted knives push back if they hit a rock, minimizing damage and helping to prevent costly downtime. The reverse sharpening system maintains the bevel on knives, giving you more efficient chopping for the entire life of the knife.
